Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology online courses and MOOCs - student reviews
The four Nobel Laureates who founded the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology created an educational plan that is unique in the university world. Known as the Phystech System, it is based on highly competitive selection of gifted and creative learners, extensive education in fundamentals of mathematics and physics, involvement of leading scientists in the educational process and use of the best research laboratories in Russia. After two to three years of fundamental studies, learners spend most of their time away from the institute, immersing themselves in research in physics at the Russian Academy of Sciences. About 90 percent of learners complete a full six-year curriculum. It is not surprising, therefore, that the institute is known as the “Russian MIT” and that numerous discoveries in physics and technology and Nobel Prize winners have emerged from its rigorous discipline. Distinguished alumni include Natan Sharansky, former Israeli Cabinet Minister; Nikolay Semyonov, Nobel Prize winner in chemistry; Boris Babaian, a pioneer of supercomputers and software architect; and cosmonauts Yuri Baturin, Aleksandr Kaleri and Aleksandr Serebrov. More than 100 learners completed the institute’s first online course in electricity and magnetism. You can join this elite educational circle by taking online technology courses in university physics and mathematics through the institute.
