University of Houston System online courses and MOOCs - student reviews
The University of Houston System consists of four separate universities—the University of Houston, the University of Houston-Clear Lake, the University of Houston-Downtown, and the University of Houston-Victoria—and five off-campus centers. As a whole, it is the fourth largest university system in Texas. Each of the component universities offers its own programs, rather than being branches of the University of Houston. The University’s history is entwined with that of the nearby NASA Manned Spacecraft Center, located near Houston’s Clear Lake. The University of Houston, Texas offered courses in physics, math and engineering to employees of the Spacecraft Center soon after the Center’s founding, and the University of Houston-Clear Lake was founded to offer upper- division and graduate-level programs for the Spacecraft Center and nearby space-related industries that developed around it. Among the notable alumni of the University of Houston System are Richard H. Anderson, CEO of Delta Airlines; NBA legend Hakeem Olajuwon; artist and filmmaker Julian Schnabel; novelist Alice Sebold; Matt Mullenweg, creator of WordPress; and eight astronauts. As an online learner, you can choose from an extensive roster of courses, including those that lead to bachelor’s or master’s degrees, and certificate programs offered by the four constituent universities.
